Benefits of TrueBeam Radiotherapy

Last updated 8 months ago

The TrueBeam radiotherapy system is a revolutionary new approach to noninvasive cancer treatment. South Florida Radiation Oncology is proud to offer our patients a wide selection of effective radiotherapy technologies, including TrueBeam. Here are just a few of its beneficial aspects for our patients:

Effective Dosing

With doses that are twice as powerful as those of its predecessors, TrueBeam can perform complex treatments quickly and easily. The radiation beam is constantly shaped to fit the profile of the tumor, minimizing the amount of healthy tissue exposed to radiation.

Fast Treatment Sessions

Since the TrueBeam system involves more powerful doses of radiation, treatments can be completed more quickly, often taking just minutes each day. TrueBeam’s RapidArc technology means that the session may require only one rotation of the gantry, so patients do not have to spend long periods of time on the treatment couch.

Constant Communication

Many patients find peace of mind in the fact that, although the radiotherapist must leave the room during the procedure, he or she can hear and see you at all times. This helps patients confirm various aspects of the treatment experience as normal, and provides reassurance that the clinician is monitoring them.

Relaxed Breathing Protocol

Thanks to TrueBeam’s respiratory gating technology, patients with tumors in the thorax or abdomen do not need to hold their breath while receiving treatment. Instead, the machine’s imaging system detects the motion created by respiration and only provides the radiation dose when the tumor lies within the predetermined position.
